Recent reports show that we are nowhere close to resolving supply chain challenges that were brought on with the rise of COVID. In fact, Bloomberg news forecasts that the current supply chain crunch will last well into next year as the delta variant upsets factory production in Asia and disrupts shipping. Within the U.S., increased customer demand and a labor crisis only add to the problem.
In addition to Bloomberg, the above referenced report forecasts that supply chain disruptions continue to unsettle the U.S. economy. The report also expects problems to remain for the foreseeable future as the pandemic continues. Geoff Freeman, president and CEO of Consumer Brands paints the unfortunate picture that “with supply chain backlogs more severe and the labor shortage more desperate, consumers’ access to essentials is threatened.”
